Drastic dieting is not easy and can have some serious consequences. Having said that, I understand that countless people will make the decision to go on a crazy diet regardless. Hence, I have decided to provide some key tips on how to minimize the damage.
What is the worst part? The massive regain of weight once the person stops. This happens because of certain enzymes and because of a damaged metabolism.
Thus, here is how to crash diet successfully:
1. Learn how to ramp off. You cannot just stop a crash diet and immediately resume eating the way you used to. Enzyme up-regulation and a morphed metabolism will make you regain weight at an accelerated rate. Instead, you have to slowly transition out of the diet.
2. Take a multivitamin. Any extreme diet is going to leave you lacking in certain vitamins and minerals. So you absolutely have to supplement with a high quality vitamin supplement.
3. Identify your circadian rhythm alerting. Your biological clock will grant you with two times of day when you are most alert. Figure out when they happen and do your most mentally demanding tasks when they activate.
4. Distract yourself. Use distraction when the hunger begins to scream. I knew one elite wrestler that would chew ice and play intense video game sessions during the most challenging dieting lows.
5. Expect the regain. You will gain some weight once you stop dieting. There is no way around this. So do not get discouraged when it happens.
6. Do not do it long term. Even if you are getting outstanding results. Doing so can seriously damage your metabolism. And once your metabolism is haywire, it can take a lot of work to fix it.
Following a drastic diet is NOT good for you and can have some pretty nasty consequences. The saddest thing is when someone ends up heavier than before the diet. So please follow the advice in this article if you decide to take the risk!
